Virtual Tape Advanced Recall (VTAR)

Opentech Systems
405 State Hwy 121
Bldg C, Suite 130
Lewisville, TX 75067
Virtual tape cache is a finite amount of storage and virtual tape volumes are eventually migrated to physical tape for different reasons. When jobs request virtual tape data residing on physical tape, a recall must be performed, the volume containing the requested dataset must be mounted, and the data set migrated back to disk cache. This recall process delays all jobs requesting a dataset not in cache. VTAR pre-stages your migrated virtual tape data eliminating virtual tape recall wait time.
